SUMMARY:Karnali Women Cup: A Historic Step for Women’s Sports in the Region
DESCRIPTION:The Karnali Women Cup marks a historic milestone for both Karnali Province and women’s football in Nepal. For the very first time\, Surkhet\, the capital of Karnali\, will host a large-scale women’s football tournament that brings together talent\, energy\, and passion from across the region. This event represents much more than a competition—it is a symbol of progress\, empowerment\, and the growing recognition of female athletes in Nepal. \nA Historic First for Karnali\nUntil recently\, forming even a single women’s football team in Karnali was extremely challenging. Limited resources\, lack of training opportunities\, and social barriers often kept girls away from sports. Despite these obstacles\, women athletes continued to show interest\, and their determination has finally paved the way for something much bigger. \nThe Karnali Women Cup aims to bring together more than 15 women’s football teams from different districts of the province—a remarkable achievement that reflects the changing mindset of communities and the rising popularity of women’s sports. \nA Platform for Emerging Athletes\nThe tournament is designed to give female players the platform they have long deserved. Many talented girls in the region rarely get the chance to compete\, showcase their skills\, or receive proper coaching. This event creates opportunities for: \n\n\nExposure to competitive matches \n\n\nInteracting with professional coaches and trainers \n\n\nBuilding confidence and teamwork skills \n\n\nRecognizing hidden talent from remote areas \n\n\nFor many of these players\, the Karnali Women Cup may be their first major tournament experience\, opening doors to district-level\, provincial-level\, and even national-level football. \nSupport from National Brands and Partners\nTo ensure the tournament’s success\, national brands\, organizations\, and supporters will be involved in the event. Their participation will help: \n\n\nProvide high-quality sports equipment \n\n\nImprove training and coaching facilities \n\n\nOffer sponsorships and awards \n\n\nRaise awareness about women’s sports \n\n\nStrengthen the event’s visibility across Nepal \n\n\nThe involvement of these partners shows that women’s football is gaining respect and recognition\, encouraging more girls to participate in sports without hesitation. \nCelebrating Women’s Sports in Karnali\nThe Karnali Women Cup is not just a competition—it is a celebration of courage\, progress\, and change. It sends a strong message that girls belong in sports just as much as boys do. By hosting this event in Surkhet\, the province is taking a bold step toward promoting equality in athletics and breaking old stereotypes that limited women’s participation. \nThe tournament also brings communities together. Families\, schools\, youth clubs\, and local governments will play an important role in cheering for the players and valuing their efforts. This collective support helps create a positive environment where female athletes feel respected and encouraged. \nA Future of Opportunity\nThe long-term vision of the Karnali Women Cup goes beyond a single event. It hopes to: \n\n\nInspire more girls to take up football \n\n\nEncourage investment in sports infrastructure \n\n\nBuild stronger women’s teams at the district and provincial level \n\n\nMotivate young athletes to dream big \n\n\nStrengthen the identity of Karnali as a hub for women’s football \n\n\nBy giving women equal space in sports\, the province is nurturing future leaders\, role models\, and champions.

SUMMARY:Raising Karnali
DESCRIPTION:Raising Karnali is a two-month transformative initiative dedicated to empowering girls across all 10 districts of Karnali Province. Through this project\, our team will engage directly with communities\, selecting 20 girls from each district—reaching 200 girls in total—and equipping them with opportunities to grow\, lead\, and succeed. \nOur program focuses on three core areas: \n\n\nSports development (with a special emphasis on football) \n\n\nEducation \n\n\nLeadership training \n\n\nOur goal is to establish 10 women’s football teams—one in each district—strengthening the foundation of women’s sports throughout the province. To further build local leadership\, we will award 10 scholarships for promising girls—one from each district—to pursue the D-License Coaching Course\, helping them become future women coaches and role models in their communities. \nBeyond training and development\, Raising Karnali aims to uncover and understand the social\, cultural\, and economic barriers that restrict the progress of girls and women. By working closely with families\, schools\, and local stakeholders\, we seek to identify long-term\, sustainable solutions that create lasting change. \nAs a foundation committed to empowering women and girls across Nepal\, we are beginning our journey in one of the country’s most marginalized provinces—with the vision of expanding our programs nationwide in the years ahead. \nDuring the project\, we will distribute: \n\n\nSports equipment for all 200 participants \n\n\nEducational materials to support their academic advancement

SUMMARY:Karnali Fest: Connecting Farmers\, Strengthening Families\, Empowering Futures
DESCRIPTION:Karnali Fest is more than a cultural or commercial gathering. It is a social and economic intervention designed to confront one of Karnali’s deepest challenges: household-level poverty and its long-term impact on families—especially girls. \nAcross Karnali\, many farming families live with constant financial uncertainty. This instability does not only affect income; it shapes life choices. When survival becomes the priority\, education feels like a luxury\, and daughters are often married early to reduce economic pressure. In this reality\, dreams are postponed or lost altogether. \nKarnali Fest exists to change this story by addressing the problem at its root: the weak economic position of farmers. \n\nWhy Karnali Fest Matters Beyond Agriculture\nThousands of farmers in Karnali work tirelessly throughout the year\, yet many earn less than the middlemen who control pricing\, transport\, and access to markets. This imbalance keeps families trapped in poverty\, generation after generation. \nWhen a farmer has no market power\, no pricing knowledge\, and no direct connection to consumers\, the entire household remains vulnerable. And when families are vulnerable\, girls often bear the greatest burden—through early marriage\, school dropouts\, and limited life choices. \nKarnali Fest is designed to break this cycle. \nBy creating a direct\, transparent\, and fair marketplace\, the festival allows farmers to earn with dignity\, plan financially\, and view agriculture not as survival labor\, but as a viable business. \n\nFrom Farmers to Entrepreneurs\nThe core vision of Karnali Fest is simple yet transformative:\nA farmer can also be an entrepreneur. \nThrough direct sales\, branding exposure\, and interaction with buyers and consumers\, Karnali Fest helps farmers: \n\nUnderstand the true value of their products\nSet fair prices without relying on middlemen\nLearn packaging\, branding\, and product presentation\nBuild confidence to negotiate\, grow\, and expand\n\nWhen farmers increase their income\, households gain stability. And when families are stable\, they are far less likely to marry off daughters early and far more able to invest in education\, health\, and long-term growth. \n\nBreaking the Link Between Poverty and Early Marriage\nEarly marriage in Karnali is not only a cultural issue—it is deeply economic. Families under constant financial stress often see early marriage as a coping mechanism. \nKarnali Fest confronts this reality by: \n\nImproving household income through fair and direct trade\nPromoting entrepreneurship instead of dependency\nEncouraging youth to see agriculture as a respected and sustainable career\nRestoring pride and dignity in farming livelihoods\n\nWhen families can sustain themselves economically\, girls are given time\, choice\, and opportunity—to stay in school\, develop skills\, and shape futures of their own choosing. \n\nPromoting Organic Products with Purpose\nKarnali is home to some of Nepal’s most valuable naturally grown products\, including: \n\nApples from Jumla and Kalikot\nMedicinal herbs such as yarsagumba\, jatamasi\, and sugandhawal\nLocal grains\, honey\, spices\, and traditional foods\n\nProduced in clean\, high-altitude environments\, these goods carry strong national and international market potential. Yet due to limited exposure and access\, farmers have rarely received their fair share of value. \nKarnali Fest bridges this gap by connecting producers directly with consumers\, traders\, and buyers—ensuring that profits return to the families who cultivate the land\, not to exploitative intermediaries. \n\nStrengthening Society Through Stronger Farmers\nAt its heart\, Karnali Fest is about social transformation through economic empowerment. When farmers earn fairly: \n\nFamilies can afford education and healthcare\nGirls remain in school longer\nYouth stay in their communities with dignity and purpose\nVillages grow stronger\, more resilient\, and self-reliant\n\nThe message is clear:\nEmpowering farmers empowers families. Empowering families protects girls. \n\nLooking Ahead: A Movement\, Not Just a Festival\nKarnali Fest is not a one-time event—it is the beginning of a long-term movement to: \n\nReduce poverty at the household level\nPrevent early marriage by strengthening family income\nTransform farmers into confident entrepreneurs\nBuild a fairer\, more self-sustaining society\n\nBy connecting real farmers with real consumers\, Karnali Fest demonstrates how fairness\, dignity\, and opportunity can reshape not just markets—but lives.
