Empowering Women, Rising From The Himalayas

Himshaakti Foundation is a Nepal-based nonprofit organization founded by Srijana Singh, a national women’s football player and dedicated girls’ rights advocate. Drawing from her own experiences as an athlete and leader, Srijana established the foundation to challenge the structural barriers that limit opportunities for girls and young women across Nepal.

Our Mission

Himshaakti Foundation is dedicated to empowering the girls and women of Nepal through sports, education, and leadership development. Focusing first on the most marginalized regions, the foundation provides opportunities that build confidence, skills, and resilience, helping young women overcome social and cultural barriers. By combining mentorship, training, and community engagement, Himshaakti aims to create a ripple effect, expanding its impact across the entire nation and fostering a generation of empowered, confident female leaders.

Our Promises

This foundation carries the heartbeat of every girl dreaming beneath Nepal’s starlit skies — invisible to many, yet unbroken in spirit. It is a story of hope, courage, and transformation, where education, mentorship, and empowerment light the path forward. Every girl who rises becomes a beacon, lifting her family, community, and generation. Through resilience and opportunity, the foundation turns whispered dreams into bold realities, shaping a future where girls and women shine without limits.

Our Vision

We aim to build Nepal’s first world-class Women’s Football and Life-Skill Academy in the capital — a place where the dreams of young girls from every corner of Nepal take flight. Here, they will grow not only as skilled athletes but as confident, mentally resilient, physically strong, financially independent, and professionally capable leaders. Through mentorship, training, and unwavering support, the academy will nurture a generation of empowered women ready to inspire, lead, and transform their communities.

Our Values

Our values are the heartbeat of our mission: we believe in courage, empowering girls to rise above every barrier; resilience, nurturing strength when challenges seem insurmountable; equality, ensuring every girl has the chance to dream and achieve; education, unlocking minds and possibilities; community, fostering connections that lift one another; and leadership, inspiring girls to become confident, compassionate changemakers. Through these values, we turn dreams into reality and spark a future of hope and empowerment.

How We Make a Difference

Strength, Skills ad a Brighter Future

Education is the foundation of empowerment. In Karnali, many girls are forced to drop out of school due to poverty, early marriage, household responsibilities, and lack of access to safe learning spaces. Himshaakti Foundation works to ensure that girls stay in school and continue learning with confidence.

We support girls through access to quality education, safe and inclusive learning environments, trained teachers, school materials, and mentorship. Our programs focus on literacy, numeracy, communication, critical thinking, and life skills—helping girls build confidence, expand their opportunities, and imagine a future beyond limitations.

A healthy girl is better able to learn, lead, and thrive. In Karnali, poor nutrition, limited health awareness, and lack of access to proper care directly impact girls’ education and overall well-being. Himshaakti prioritizes girls’ physical and mental health as a core part of empowerment.

Our programs focus on nutrition awareness, menstrual health education, mental well-being, and access to basic health information and services. By breaking taboos and providing accurate knowledge, we help girls take control of their bodies, health, and futures with confidence and dignity.

Leadership begins when a girl believes in herself. Himshaakti Foundation nurtures leadership skills in girls by creating platforms where they can speak, decide, and lead with confidence.

Through workshops, mentorship programs, confidence circles, and role-model interactions, we help girls develop decision-making skills, communication abilities, and a strong sense of self-worth. Our goal is to raise a generation of girls from Karnali who are not only educated but also bold, capable leaders in their families, communities, and beyond.

Football is more than a game—it is a tool for confidence, discipline, and leadership. In communities where girls are often discouraged from participating in sports, Himshaakti uses football as a powerful medium to challenge gender norms and create safe spaces for girls.

Through regular training, local tournaments, and women-led coaching programs, we help girls build physical strength, teamwork, self-belief, and resilience. Football becomes a pathway for girls to raise their voices, claim public spaces, and believe in their right to lead—on and off the field.

Economic independence is key to long-term empowerment. Many girls and young women in Karnali lack access to skills, resources, and opportunities to earn and sustain livelihoods. Himshaakti supports girls in building practical skills that open doors to income generation and entrepreneurship.

We provide skill-based training, financial literacy, and exposure to small business ideas that are locally relevant and sustainable. By encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and self-reliance, we help girls move from dependency to dignity and financial confidence.

Our Founder

Srijana Singh Thakuri

Srijana Singh Thakuri’s story is one of quiet courage and unbreakable determination. Growing up in a society where girls are often told to dream smaller, she chose the football field as her place of resistance. Every training session, every match, and every setback tested her strength—but never her spirit. Rising to represent Nepal as a national women’s football player, Srijana experienced firsthand the barriers that limit girls’ potential.

Born in Kalikot, one of Nepal’s most remote districts, Srijana learned early what it meant to grow up hearing “you cannot.” She walked miles to attend school, carried dreams heavier than her books, and faced traditions that tried to confine her voice. Limited access to education and deep-rooted social expectations tested her resolve every day. Yet, with each step forward, she chose courage over fear—quietly proving that where you come from does not define how far you can rise.

Rather than turning away from these challenges, she transformed pain into purpose. Carrying the dreams of countless unseen girls, she founded Himshaakti Foundation to create opportunities she once struggled to find. Today, Srijana stands as more than an athlete—she is a symbol of hope, proving that when one girl dares to rise, she can change the future for many.
